I have a 3620, 64MB DRAM, two 8MB flash SIMMs. I was having problems with this config (said one of the flash mods was not formatted), so I tried to tftp a new image to both (had IP, that's it, like 12.3 i-mx.bin...)---forgot to tftp the IOS to my computer before doing this...DOH!!! That's okay, since I have more than a few for the 3620.
I tried putting Enterprise FW/IDS/3DES 12.3 on it, but I am not sure if both flash mods can be combined to look like one...anyway, it loaded part on one, then would go into rommon. So I pulled both out and put in one from a 2600 in there, and tried xmodem i-mx, 12.2, which is only 6MB. Here's what I get...

rommon 1 >

What does that mean, "Wrong system software for this hardware"??? I tried with two IOS files (one was 5MB, the other 6MB). Thanks.

Burt

It's not a CPA router, and this does not apply to 3600's...

Burt

Ok, so I was trying to load a 3620 IOS onto a 3640. Have I ever mentioned that sometimes I am about as sharp as a wooden spoon?

Burt

Yes, you have. But those extremely rare instances only occur during galactic alignments on leap years. Maybe you've been chewing on that wooden spoon?

Take the kids fishin. It helps clear the mind. :)
