C3500XL EN CMS stopped working "bad magic number"

I am running multiple C3548XL switched in several clusters. Recently CMS/VSM has stopped working on all clusters and switches. I get part way in and then I believe the java plug in hangs. I get a "bad magic number" message.
I am running IOS 12.5.2XU on the switches and windows 2k professional on the PC. I use IE 6.0 with SP1 installed. the Java plug-in is 1.3.0
This has worked fine for years and has just stopped. I have removed and reinstalled the Javs plug-in. I tried different versions, still nothing. I have tried everything I could find on the Cisco TAC site.
Any clues would be appreciated.
