Hello to everyone, I have been searching for days for a solution to my problem with no success.

My Cisco 2600 router refuses to load anything. I cannot access any form of configuration menu.
It all started when I typed in the following commands from the rommon promt.

rommon 1>MONRC=BOOT=flash:,1000:
rommon 2>sync
rommon 3>reset

If you would an explanation as to why I did it go to

Now all I get is a continuous loop of reboot followed by the lovely words;

loadprog: bad file magic number: 0x0
boot: cannot load flash

I cannot even access the rommon prompt by pressing Ctrl+Break. The router responds to nothing.

I need a cisco router God to solve this one. Please help.

Hello there, the Field Notice you did mention applies to very old software (ver 11.xx). From the information provided it looks like you have a corrupted image in flash. To be able to solve the issue we must break into rommon mode, please follow the instructions from this page:

In rommon mode type the following
meminfo <to check the integrity of the main memory>
dir flash: < to see if we have a valid image in there> If no errors reported just type in:
confreg 0x2142
reset
This way we will load the fist valid image from falsh ignoring the startup config file and any potential boot statements commands which may point to a different image.

If you have any errors mentioning a bad file magic you will need to upload a fresh image using xmodem command in rommon mode as the existing file it is corrupted. cheers
