I have a C2621XM with two fastethernet interfaces. I have configured the interfaces as follows and they are both up and active. My C2600 Show Flash, Show Start, and Show IP route are attached in a notepad file.
Here is the objective: I have a classroom that I want to put on its own LAN to teach a networking class at the local vocational school. I want it on the 10.10.17.0 255.255.255.0 network while the schools network is 10.0.8.0 255.255.248.0. Also the 10.0.8.1 is the default gateway for the school.
Here is the problem: Once I setup the router I cannot ping from an internal host to the schools default gateway, 10.0.8.1. I can telnet into the router interface from the schools side and the local side. I can ping the default gateway from the router. From the host I can ping 10.10.17.1 and 10.0.9.35. But I cannot ping 10.0.8.1, the default gateway for the school.
It seems to me that there is nothing tying the interfaces together. I have tried installing NAT and applying many static routes. The school system only uses static routes so there is no RIP, OSPF, or EIGRP.
The students are not able to get on the internet which they have to get to 10.0.8.1. I am sure I will incredibly dumb once the solution is posted. I am thinking something to do with a static route or an IOS issue. Any help anyone can give is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Freddie
