Well Im trying to copy out files from the windows\repair folder but it is empty. Can I get these from the xp cd?
Of course cant log to windows so Im trying all the 'fun' stuff before full reimage.
Also, runnig the xp repair, it isnt recognizing the repair option thats why Im attempting to get the files from the repair folder.

thanx in advance

Backup copies of your registry files (in the %systemroot%\Repair folder) are also replaced after any in-place upgrade is complete. The registry files in the Repair folder are either from the first time you started Windows XP or the last time you used the Backup utility to backup your System State. I don't think you will find them on the Install CD as they contain details that are only created during Setup.

How are you attempting to access this folder are you seeing an Access Permissions problem?

Are any of the booting files (NtDetect.com. Ntldr, or Boot.ini) missing or corrupt?

Warning!! If the Repair Option is not Available

It is also likely that you do not have the Repair option because the files in the Repair folder are missing.

Do you have any old backups of this failed install that you could use to recreate the Repair folder?

thnx linney.
I jus tdid fresh install. Figured I could pull stuff outta repiar folder but alas the info was gone.
I also tried copying ntldr and ntdetect, but it didnt work.

Thanks anyways.
