Hello all,
We are putting in an 0X32 Norstar 5.0 S/W. I know the system has the ability to accept a signal from the C.O. that would light the message lamp on the T-Series phones. What I don't know is what settings are needed and what do I need to tell the telco to send.

The line in question must have the Call Answer feature, and be terminated on a CI trunk card in the MICS. Any set to have the 'Message for you' display must have the line appearance on it. Any number of sets can be selected.

For example for DN 222, go to Telco Features,Show. Class Assignment,Show. For line xxx, change Extl Vmsg set to Yes

Under lines, for Line xxx ensure Telco Features:Vmsg number1 is displayed.

Under the heading Telco Features, Vmsg ctr tel #'s, Show. For Vmsg center 1 change the number to the local access number used to access the Voice Message service.

On an expanded set (M7310,M7324,T7316) the middle soft key will be 'Call' when 'Message for you' is displayed, and when the message is heard and saved, or deleted, the display will clear from all sets that have been programmed.

Thanks for the info, this should do the trick.

Okay, one more question. Sorry. I thought you were referring to Caller I.D. cards when you mentioned CI cards, someone else here said it might be something else. Was I right???
Thanks again,
GatorDave

No problem. Yes, you were correct. The card is the Calling Line ID trunk card.
Good luck with your programming.

Hello,

I am trying to set up message indication from the local CO to a 7310 set. I have set the Exteral Vmsg to yes and have set the voice message center telephone number. What I need to know is:

1) what type of signal is the switch looking for: stutter dial tone or message light indication?

2) how often does it check for messages?

3) does it require a caller ID card

Any other information you think I might need would be appreciated

Thank you,

1. Stuttered
2. It's in standy mode...as soon as the stuttered dial tone is sent from the C.O. you will get the light and/or Message For You.
3. Yes

Incorrect. It is receiving a CLID signal (Visual Message Waiting). The second the signal is sent (via CLID tones) to your system, it tells the Norstar to activate the lamp. Thats why a CLID card is required. Its the same as CLASS Message Waiting on an Option-series system.

Hope this helps...

Kris
