I have an old version of Turbo C by Borland. I really like using C but would like my programs to run under windows. Are there any plain C compilers for Windows. I have tried a number of C++ compliers but non of them seem to work very well. I was looking for something like Turbo Pascal For Windows 1.5 by Borland. If there is such a monster can it be downloaded for free (if so where) or do I have to buy it (if so where)? I really hope this made some kinda sense to you all

Thank you for your time
Andrew

I feel your pain. The good ole days when Pascal was cool. Borland's Turbo Pascal rocked. It was simple, easy, fast, and powerful. The help section was so good it practically taught you how to program Pascal.

Sadly I've never found a C compiler that I've liked as much as that.

You can just get Microsofts C compiler. It's pretty good. Visual C++ has lots of features that you may never use but you can still just use it as a straight up C++ compiler and it works just fine.

You can also try your luck at download.com for some Compilers. I've never found one there that I liked but perhaps one will be to your liking.

The free compilers I have found are lacking many of the
amenities, but lcc, as a gcc clone, is very nice and has
very evidently had a lot of work done to it.
It is available along with misc.options(the berk.db) and docs
