C-Dilla spy ware, Is this a new trend?
I have noticed in my Add/Remove Programs a strange looking application that I have never installed nor was I aware it being installed. It is called C-Dilla Licence Management System, I am not sure were I picked it up or what licenses it manages. Reading a few articles on the net I have soon discovered that this is another aggravating piece of spy ware that monitors materials that user submits for reproduction on CD recorders and contents downloaded from the Internet.

This appears to be a new wave of intrusion that users are completely unaware of. I have also learned that uninstalling it may make your system unstable. If any one has got any knowledge on this and how to deal with it please share!

C-Dilla is not spyware per se but it is irritating. It is a DRM program that makes certain you don't illegally copy a program. This was installed with some piece of software that you installed (like Turbo Tax). See for more info. James P. Cottingham

Hello 2ffat, wmin -- I have a version of C-dilla on my system and have wasted tons of time in Google, on message boards, and searching through my files. I wanted to find a way to get rid of the software and avoid reformatting.

Now I'm worried about what I will have even after I format. I'm not advanced enough in any aspect of computing to know for sure what to expect. Do you guys know if formatting is a 100% solution? When Windows reienstalls, will there be any possibility of something sinister's being left behind in the BIOS, for instance? Call me paranoid.

Here's what I've come up with:

1) C-Dilla -- Non-Plug and Play Driver (enabled, if I disable it, IMAPI is also disabled).

2) CDANTSRV.EXE -- C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.

3) CDANT.SYS -- C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers.

4) CDILLA16.EXE -- C:\Windows.

5) F:DRIVE -- Mysterious 16-bit, 46.9MB partition that contains a folder called TEST, It tests the modem, bios, etc for something, probably illegal software. I didn't load this partition, nor did Windows or eMachines, but guess what sometimes loads a partition when it is installed -- yep, C-dilla.

6) 34 entries in the registry (there could be more that I can't find).

I don't really care any more how I get rid of it; I just want to know it's really gone. If either of you has learned anything new since your posts, I would really appreciate any help you could give me.

I believe both Ad-aware and Spybot will remove it. Look at forum760 for more info.
