Hello,

Does anyone know if we can use NarrowCast to run SQL statements directly against a database, and then use NarrowCast for the scheduling, formatting and distribution? We have some report and file requirements that don't lend themselves easily to a dimension model. When I set up a new Information Source, NarrowCast only lets me choose from existing Intelligence Servers, instead of allowing me to configure database connections and such.

Any thoughts? We could build the reports in Desktop, but it would be ugly.

Thanks,

You could write an ITM that uses ADO or something to retrieve the data and populate a text/excel/word file. And upon completed attach that document to the outgoing email.

I think if you can do it in SQL, you can do it in MicroStrategy, though...but if you want to leverage existing code then maybe a custom module is the way to go.

Narrowcast Server ships with sample code called the ODBC ISM that lets you connect to any db. Check out the documentation on how to use it.
