Buttons over movie clips

On the opening interface of my web site I am trying to create a menu with losts of little animated critters running around which will be buttons to other scenes of the site.

I can get the animation going, but the buttons never work. I have tried everything I know and don't know.

The only time they work, I get the animation going back to frame one.

Please help, I am going mad.

Have a look at this...

It's only a two buttons swf, but you could add as many as you want. Change the actionscript to load/unload movie if you want to load new swfs rather than going to different scenes.
