Can't seem to find this issue answered anywhere, but I KNOW I've seen it before. I have an Access 97 db that is giving trouble on only one station; the navigation buttons on forms or forms/subforms are improperly displayed, just lines (like an underscore) or a dot.
There are no custom images being loaded or any other visual enhancement in use or installed, just stock installation of Microsoft Office.
User can click where the controls are supposed to be and they work properly, just don't display properly.

 
Resolved - a work around, really. Had to lower sreen olrs. Not acceptable in my book, but at least it looks better now.
 
You may also want to see if that machine needs its printer and/or video drivers updated.
