Hi, I am using NW3.12 with Solomon 2.06 accounting packing which is using Btrieve database. After the application deleted the records, the file (table) did not seem to shrink. I want to use Butil to rebuit the file so that I can claim the usused spaces.
How should I do that? Would the rebuilt file still have the index page during rebuilt?
Thank you.
Gary

Are you really that low on disk space? THe engine will evenutally reuse the space freed by deleting records but does not release it to the OS.
If you use BUTIL, the indexes will be correct. You will want to make sure everyone is out of the system before rebuilding the data file.

Thank you for your reply. Our data files are really big; One of the files is 1.3G; I used MS Access ODBC to check the records and knew that before the deletion, there were >880K records in this file. After the deletion, it only had 230K records. I think it may yeild almost 1G space, if I can rebuilt this file.
