Problem:

I got a hp psc2410 all in one .
Whenever i start it up : it makes some mechanical noise something like plastic gears running against each other .
After a while it stops making the noise .
However, it displays a busy icon(hourglass just like windows) that never goes away .
As long as this icon is showing i cannot do anything with the printer .
Anybody know how to troubleshoot this problem ?

well you need to find out where the noise is coming from.. either the printer or the scanner.

I would guess that a gear has lost a tooth or a belt is worn.

In either case.. its not good

I'm not sure about this model, but some scanners have a lock for the scanner that locks the head in place durring transportation. That can cause a smilar sound if it's still locked down and attempting to initialize the scanner.

I dunno, It's simple, but it's ofter the simple things we overlook.

Hope this helps

Good Luck!
