OK, I'm brainfreezing.

I can't get my stations to ring busy. I can't remember what parameter to set. Even if I only have a single line appearance on the station it still is ringing and not going busy.

stations are 4406D+.

Somebody grabbed my manual so I don't have a reference, and nothing I could find here on search, so I'm stuck.

thanks.

I did that already.... that's what I don't understand..

I only have one appearance on that phone and still rings no answer. doesn't return busy.

Is there something i'm forgetting in system programming??? I also turned call waiting off on that station..

is it maybe a coverage issue. The coverage path is to voicemail...

Thanks a lot.

If you have coverage, you don't get a busy. If you did you would not get voice mail. And ringing busy is like a light shining dark.

I know.

The point is... I HAVE NO coverage path setup. no other SAs on the station... I busy the station, (by calling from one to another, not just off hook.) and still get RNA when a second call comes in.

ring busy is an old term... i must be older than you thought...

anyway, i'm stuck. can't get a busy out of this little bugger and now it's become a mission...

thanks.

Yeah, I know about the origin of the term ring busy, and if 1958 is a clue, I am older than you. Time to print the extension. Could be a button coverage on another station for this one, possibly a t/r station.

1958 is my number also. That's why we know that term...

I'll print and see what happens.

thanks again, and I'll let you know what I find out.

Perhaps call waiting is turned on.

But alas, a PRINT OF THE EXTENSION will show that.

BTW, what is 1958?

There is NO such thing as "ring busy". The phone either rings with ringback tone or the line is busy with a busy tone! Busies don't ring!

So we can all see what is going on with your station, post a print per Merlinman's previous request.

....JIM....

There is such a thing if you're old enough to remember....

a. Call waiting is NOT active for this station. I have checked that repeatedly.

i'll look at the extension print and let you know what i see and post if necessary.

thanks.

p.s. the 1958 was for 2BAvoice... birth year.

Well now, doesn't that make all of you a bunch of PUPPIES.

Take 15 away from that and you will have this WAR BABY's B-Date.

Oh wait, Am I really EARLIER THAN A BAYBE BOOMER?

Or, could it be that I signed on with SWBELL when you puppies were in KINDEGARTEN?

But, back to the issue.

Printing the info for this extension may be enlightening, and we are all waiting to see it.

Ring Busy is indeed a term that I haven't heard in quite some time. Right up there with High and Dry.

I started as a toll frameman for SWBT in 1970. Another memory buster is "bat your ear and ground your mouth" for E&M, remember that. Sorry to get off track. I wasn't born in 1958 but I assumed that maybe jfrancis1958 was.
I am so old that when I was a kid the only thing we had to play with was dirt, but it was so new that it was still clean! Back to this thread, I am betting another extension has a cover button for this one....

Ok, sorry for the delay. I have been busy with an implementation.

here is the print:

caveat is that I have been monkeying around so don't ding me for conflicts (yet anyways.)

Thanks a lot for your help.

If you remove 116 from cover group 1 / group coverer 142 and turn off Call Forwarding, you should then get a busy tone when calling 116 when it is in use. See if that works for you.
