Consider the following players

A - me. An independent, incorporated contractor
B - the company I have a contract with. An IT outsourcing company.
C - a third party software developer company that has software product installed at 'B'
D - the product written by C, installed at B
E - has engaged B to supply all IT support and development (other than for D which it just supports)

Situation:

company A is providing support for various applications, including 'D' (but only at a low level). As well, A provides support for other applications running at B.

'A', a highly skilled individual, has been contacted by C to provide attitional support for D which it also supports.

Is there a conflict of interest between A, C and B?

Lets see if I understand this correctly:
You Work for a company as an Independent Contractor (Under Contract) and that company has software installed by another company interested in your help. Close?? If so I think the conflict comes when you are supporting the same product for both companies. You need to be careful when it comes to contracts. What does your say? Anything against working for another company at the same time? If not what about a company that does software for the company you have a contract under? This is VERY thin Ice you will be treading on and I suggest you discuss it with both companies to ensure there would be no conflict. If you don't your job at both companies could be at stake. Yes, you have a conflict of interest. You are giving two levels of support to a company with no division of responsibilities other than the statement "low level". The conflict is yours, not either of the companies. Ed Fair
