I'm currently working on implimenting Business Portal with our Great Plains setup. What I was wondering was if anyone has any feedback on it. There's a few questions that I have about it too:

1) Is a user using only business portal able to view Great Plains smartlists?

2) Can the same user classes from Great Plains be used/imported for the Business Portal security? Or does the security have to setup from scratch?

Thanks.

1. No - because you need to use a license in order to open Smartlist but there are other means in BP which is called Webparts. Which objects do you need to open?

2. User classes are the same as Roles. Users are created not from Great Plains but from Active Directory so the user should be a valid network user with login and password. Assigning the roles to the users would be manual.

I had just wanted users to view smartlists that have been created through SQL queries with Business Portal. That way the user is able to get much the same information as they would with Great Plains.

Right. What Dukester is saying is No they cant' access the SmartList favorites already created. But, yes, you can create BP Queries that are pretty much the same as SmartList views. Those have to be created from scratch and then can be saved to a user or role.
