Hi we're planning to setup BP 2.5 soon and would like to know if anyone has been able to pull data from other systems, besides GP, using ODBC unto the Portal Pages/KPI's etc.
Any ideas? Has anyone else installed BP - I've not installed it yet so I can't test the theory. This is a major thing for us - the main reason why we're pushing BP is to setup KPI's however it won't be usefull for us if only Great Plains tables can be used.
Appreciate any help from anyone who has installed or used BP.
I'm not sure about BP native functionality, but you should be able to publish crystal enterprise reports (which can pull from multiple sources) via the Business Portal.

and they wonder why they call it Great Pains!
we've been using BP since 2.0 and currently planning to upgrade it when we go to GP 9.0. Give me a few days(auditors are on my back every minute) and I'll try it on my test server.
I checked with Microsoft and basically their response is that it can be done but they would need to build the entities for my legacy system.
I just completed the install on my test server only to realize that I don't have access to key BP functionality (e.g. KPI's, FRX etc) that we want. Apparently when we first purchased Great Plains the Business Intelligence components were not part of the Foundation Layer which is what the KPI's are built on. Now we're being told that we have to purchase this layer as an add-on in order to use the KPI's with just Great Plains data. Aaaarrrggghhh!!!
I wonder why this isn't made clear upfront? hmmm - I've pulled down so many documents on BP but none of them point to the fact that you may have to purchase another layer to use KPI's.
Yeah, I've published Crystal Reports from Crystal Report Server/Crystal Enterprise to BP. It's a bit expensive of a product though so I'm not sure if it would be worth it for you.
