My company is trying to do a PROS and CONS comparison b/w Cognos and Business Objects (latest version of each) and I was wondering if anyone knows any websites where such a comparison is made?
There are hundreds of users accross geographies and lines of business.

Thanks for any help.

I just had a look around and this is definitely the needle in the haystack. I found a for sale analysis paper out at bitpipe.com, but it was about a $1000 bucks. You could almost certainly find it there if you thought it was worthwhile.

I was actually interested in working with Cognos a few years ago and haven't had any opportunity to work with it.

That being said.

If I were looking into it I'd talk to some recruiters about how much the programmers/report writers cost in addition to your other ways of looking at the two products. At the same time, ask them about availability of candidates.

Go to a book store and ask for books on the two. These two steps could give you a great deal of information about how hard it will be to get people to do the work you need done.

What else? See if you can find a business colleague at another company that has implemented either and discuss the problems they had to overcome. The chamber of commerce for your city might know someone if you don't.

A lot depends on what you are trying to do. If you want to share some of the overview of the project, maybe someone here could discuss it with you. Although you may want to go to the Crystal Reports 4 forum with that discussion.

Sorry I couldn't find you a web site that does the straight compare of features. An unbiased view might not be available. But if you do find one, I'd like to see it too.

Scott.

I've been using the Cognos application for about four years now. Go to eweek.com and do a search on Business Objects vs Cognos. Hope this website is beneficial for you.
