Hi All

I have BOEXI installed on one server that has a couple hundred reports. My company was acquired and I had to install BOE on another server that resides on this new company's domain. I have access to both servers still but they won't talk to one another

What is the process of exporting or copying from the old server onto this new one?

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hi,
The usual practice is to use the Export/Import wizards to take the info from 1 and move it to the other..

The 2 instances are not designed to directly communicate.

Be sure you have defined and tested a CMS database for the new instance and that it has sufficient resources to handle the new objects.

Thank you for the reply

So if they do not require to be on the same domain, what would be the correct way of taking it from point a to point b? This is BOE XI base I guess is the name and I do not see an export process only an import process

I am not sure the proper way to backup the CMC database..

Sorry I am new to the installation of BOE and any help would be great

Thank you

The Import Wizard can be used to either import or export objects from BOE. So, use it to export the reports, etc. to a .biar file. You can then move the .biar file to the other domain and import it into the new server.

A computer only does what you actually told it to do - not what you thought you told it to do.

Thank you Dell...is this function available for the base version of BOEXI? I thought from what I read that it was only available in R1 or higher...maybe I read wrong

Thanks again

Hmmmm....I'm not sure. If a "New Install" was originally done on your server, all of the client tools should have been included. If that's the case then it would be available on the menu on your report server. If a "Custom" install was done, it might not be on the menu. You can run the server install and see if it's an option under the client tools. Don't do a Client install - IIRC, the client install prior to XI r2 didn't give you the option to select what you wanted to have installed and it didn't install all of the tools that are available in the server install.
