Business Objects Rpts using COM Connectivity

Hi all,
I'm not sure I'm in the right forum to ask this question, so apologies in advance.
We have been given access to the data behind one of our systems using COM connectivity. I have been able to access the data through Crystal (Create New Connection > COM Connectivity), but can't see a similar way to do this in Business Objects. Anyone have any suggestions?! I'm totally unfamiliar with this type of connection, so sorry if I'm omitting something basic.

BO doesn't have this ability.

You can build ASPs to customize the interface, but BO uses universes to get data. COM is not an option for middleware.
