Business Objects question re: query speed 1

When I run queries like the following in Business Objects:

Select [field] from

WHERE [field] IN ('a','b','c');

Does BO retrieve the entire table first? and then filters 'a', 'b', 'c'? If that is the case, can I do anything to change that?

The queries take a long time to run and I wonder if anything can be done to speeds things up.

Do you have "Perform Grouping on Server" (Database menu) turned on? Is the field indexed? Do you have "Use Indexes or Server for Speed" (File|Options Database tab) turned on? Which version of Crystal are you using?

This isn't a Business Objects forum, it's for Crystal Reports.

In Crystal the query generated and passed to the database is shown under Database->Show SQL Query.
