Hi. A rep of our vendor was just here helping me wih something and she decided to show me this cool feature called Business Alerts. Apparently it formerly had to be purchased as a separate module but now is standard in eEnterprise (we are on 7.50).

She had it on her laptop, but we could not find it on my system. I looked under Setup > System and it is not on the palette, nor could I find it on the Company Palettes setup. There is an option for Business Alerts but that is under Utilities and all that does is tells the system which tables can have Business Alerts set up.

Does anyone else know how I can find the screen called Define Business Alerts?

thanks.

Thanks!
Barb E.

It is under the Setup>System..if you do not see it, try logging in under the sa or if that doesn't work you might need to add the pallette through Setup>Company.

I was logged in as 'sa' and I tried to add it using Setup > Company > Palettes, but as I said in my original post, the only item I could find in the list of Great Plains windows was called Business Alerts and it already exists on the Utilities palette which opens the window called Business Alert Table Maintenance.

Thanks!

If you go to Help then About Great Plains then choose Options, do you see Business Alerts mark as registered module?

Yes, it is marked as a registered module.

Thanks!

What you could do is go to Great Plains utilities and reset your pallettes. This will however reset anything that you have done to the pallettes.

Maybe a stupid question but are you on SQL? Also, wasn't 7.5 the version where they shipped a Dynamics 7.5 in the beginning and not an eEnterprise 7.5? Maybe that was 7.0.

When you go into the company palette setup and select the System Setup palette, click the Revert button. This will revert this palette. Is it there now?

By the way, do you use some kind of ghosting software to install GP?

You can also try launching Utilities and choosing Modify Palettes. You then have the option of showing palettes for all Modules or just the ones registered. Occasionally you have to do this after entering new registration keys.

Anyway, just some more ideas.

I don't want to reset the palettes, but I will see if I can find the option of showing all modules. I think we already do see all of them (ie. we see bill of materials but it's not registered)

We install directly from the CD on each client, and I don't recall getting Dynamics 7.5, it was eEnterprise.

And yes, we are on SQL2000.

Thanks!

Okay now this is strange. I created a new company on our system, and Business Alerts shows up on the System > Setup menu for this company, but only for this company and none of the others.

I apparently can set up BA's for all the companies using it.

Weird eh?

Thanks!
Barb E.

Registration keys are for all companies.

Pallette setup is by individual company.

It was probably some fluke from upgrading from version where you didn't have BA but not do.

You can go into the pallette setup and instead of reverting just add the BA setup.

That's the problem - I can't find BA setup anywhere on the palette setup.
