not sure if this is the best place to post but here goes.

to aid a hen night the wife is organising i suggested creating a cd as a gift for all to remember the day.

i had most of the songs on itunes and converted them to mp3 using a program called switch (free download). i then created the mix in mixmeister software and burnt to cd from mixmeister

i then copied that one cd in sonic - but now the copied cd's are jumping

i know there are a lot of steps there and i might expect some sound issues somewhere but they are jumping every 10-15 secs and hardly a gift worth keeping !

the cd burner is internal and came with my dell dimension 1100.

what i want to know is what is the more likely cause the transformation from m4a to mp3 to mix or the cd copying ?

hope you can help as hen night is tomorrow and I now have limited time and might just have to burn cd's with no mixing which is a little dull !

theo1881,

Is it jumping on that first CD (...and burnt to cd from mixmeister), too?

If not, I would suspect a problem with the copying. It could be Sonic or the CD-Rs -if you're using a different brand/type than the original one.

After the tracks have been converted to MP3 but before they've been put on the CD can you play them without skipping? If not, it's the conversion that's at fault.

Are you playing the CD in a stand-alone CD player? It might not like 'burned' CDs - some don't.

Regarding CD-R (burned CDs) in standalone CD players, I had this problem with the CD player in my Nissan Altima. The solution was to use the highest quality CD-R blanks I could find (I used Sony), and to burn them at no more than 4X speed.

cool, i'll check all suggestions out, cd's are sony, good quality but burnt at quickest speed. didn't notice sound quality problems when compiling the mix or anything major on the first cd

hmmmm......

FYI - turns out it was the burnt copies that were the issue, could have been speed but also noticed that the edges of the cd were a little tacky when bining them ! created directly from mixing software and all ok. thanks for suggestions and help as always
