burning to CDRW or DVDRW in dos

Does anyone know if it possible to burn to dvdrw or cdrw in dos? Maybe by using a 3rd party appication?

Haven't found any software or drivers that will do it. But then given the cost to do so instead of the more lucrative/easier-to-do Windows platform will probably keep them from coming about.
