I created a database for a friend of mine in Access 2000. I have ftp'd it to my computer that is running access 2000, and my laptop running access xp and it works fine.
He doesn't have ftp, so I burned the .mdb to a cd and brought it to his house and copied and pasted it to his desktop. Now, when it opens it says "Database is read only" and won't let me do anything. He is running AccessXP on a Windows 98 machine. Any ideas what is going on here?

Hi

When you burn the database onto CD it sets the read-only attribute automatically. Once you have copied the file onto his desktop you can right-click it and click on properties. Uncheck the read-only attribute, click OK and thats it. It will work.

Hope this helps
