Hi,
I was trying to burn a CD with burncd but got the following error:

burncd: open(/dev/acd0c): operation not supported (something like that)

Am I missing something?? I was a CD-R in the drive and I mounted a normal CD in the drive so it's the right device.

atacontrol list shows both drives, I'm root and I've tried setting permissions on the device files. BTW: What's the difference between acd1a and acd1c??

Do I need to configure the kernel to do this??

I think I finally cracked this one.

In FreeBSD the kernel has different security levels (between 0 and 3) and default after installation is apparently 2. This means that I cannot write to disk devices or load/unload modules. This has also prevented me from running disklabel and vinum.

Now you know!!
