Does anyone know of any software I can purchase to backup my files to cd that will let me keep my filenames up to 128 characters long? I currently am using Easy CD Creator 5 which will allow up to 64 characters only. I would like to be able to access the files in Windows 98se or Windows XP on the cd. I would like to use software that can be loaded on Windows 98se to do the backup. Thanks

Gsd,

This is a limitation of the Joliet filesystem used by CD's on Windows PC's.

You could try zipping the data to files with shorter names but the specification has a path limitation as well. I am not sure of its exact limit and can't find it off hand but it must be available somewhere. Perhaps another tek-tipper can enlighten us on this.

I believe it's 255 characters for the pathname limitation, using Joliet file system...
