i'm troubleshooting an office2k pro(on a win2k pro.), somehow the user manage to screw up the symbol fonts. user said that she brought a disk from home using office2k standard ed. when she tried using the disk at work to do the bulleting in ms words and when she prints the symbol fonts appears as wingdings. i tried repairing office and i got this message[error 1931] about the [vgx.dll] being corrupt, according to ms i have to upgrade internet explorer 5.5. sp2 to 6.0 sp1. now i'm able to detect and repair office2k, not sure whats the correlation between the two however am still having the freaking wingdings problem.
anyone have a solution, help. [sadeyes]
thanks.

Office has it's share of bugs without adding wingdings to them.Delete Office by going through Add/Remove programs and reload it. Don't let your friend near it again. I know of no correlation between it and IE 6. I've tried IE 6 and went back to IE5.5, it is more stable. I think you may have received a message through Windows Update which made you think the two were related.

thanks davidelnormal for your input.
i did clean uninstall and clean reinstall and applied sr2 and sp3 hoping that this will clean up the mess. still the problem exist, last resort i think i will repair windows or just reformat.

thanks again.

When you uninstall office, you should also remove the registry entries for it. Something with the bullets may have been saved there. I had a problem with office once and it kept hapening even after uninstalling it. I then removed all the registry entries for office and reinstalled. It fixed the problem.

Did you try just deleting the font files and reinstalling them?
