Bullet points change when i press send

I have a pc running Windows 2000 and have office xp installed. When i write up a message i use block bullet points i press send the message sends. when i check what i've sent in sent items the bullets points have changed to numbered bullet points! why does this happen how can i turn it off.

I've reinstalled office xp with all service packs and it only happens to a few people not everyone.
