Hi,

I've been looking at the Bull site and they seem to have some good Power 5 servers.
Has anyone has an experience with these machines?
If so, how does the price compare to and IBM machine and is there good support for it?

Thanks a lot.

Regards,

Rakesh Singh

The Bull machines are re-badged IBM's. I have found that Bull will quite often undercut IBM to get your business. We used Bull support for about 4 years before changing to IBM and I found Bull a lot quicker a responding to calls than IBM. Not sure what their like now though.

Thanks for the info.
We need a 'play box' for HACMP etc. and a P5 520 worked out to 180 000 Rand or about 25 000 Euros
A bit too much for just a test box apparently :)
Maybe Bull can do better.

Thanks again...

We have Bull equipment. We have been a honeywell / bull
user since 1976.
I am very pleased with them.

where can i see the website of bull equipments? is it compatible to all AIX versions?

From what I've read, it's exactly the same as running on IBM hardware.
I'm pleased that the Bull Power 5 has all the capabilities of the IBM.

Thanks guys. I've requested a quote from Bull.

thanks alot... how much cheaper is it form IBm POWER 5 machines since you already got the quote.. just wondering.. whether is it worth it. if it almost half and still can get the same features then it is good for development and testing machines.

I requested it a couple of days ago. Unfortunately, I haven't received it yet.
I'll post the difference once recieved.
