Hi, I am trying to introduce a new telephone system for both my sites, looking at the Avaya IP Office. I have a problem with the link between the buildings. We currently have a microwave data link between both sites which is reportedly running at 2.9Mbs but I am not confident that this link has this bandwidth or that I can put VoIP on this link.

My sites are 450m apart and have line of sight.

I am looking for an option to not only have the capacity for voice but to increase capacity on the data link. I have looked at going through the telephone network but this is too costly.

Can anyone give me any ideas on what I need and a lightly cost for setup and any specialist in the UK for implementation?

Another question how would I test the bandwidth on my link I have at the moment?

Much Thanks

Look into a FRee space optical wireless solution. You can push gige speeds in monsoon like conditions through some of these products.

The companies to look at are MRV, CANON(they are the newest into the market but have become the largest player.
Lightpoint, laserbit, and lightpoint.

All of these companies offer great products that actually due what they claim. I have tested or used all the products I listed. I would shop by vendor support and price if I was you...

I would avoid laserbit, all support including replacement parts comes from overseas. Other units are much easier to use as well. Mounting these units to a VERY solid surface is critical.

Another option is to run fiber if you can.
