i am building a jukebox..importing sound into layers with loadmovie command...i am running 12 fps right...i need to make a counter that for every 12 frames or one sec it counts one sec...i am doing this for my juke box so while the movie is being played it shows the length of time played..none will probably go over 4 minutes if that helps...

so i need a counter that counts every 12 frames as 1 then 2 and so on...

ideas?

Importing sounds into layers? Or levels?
Counter would reset with a new selection?
This a 1 frame main movie?

Probably something with getTimer...
Will think about it!

Later...

sorry levels..counter will be in the movie loaded so when i call the new sound track it will call the new movie which in return will start the new timer..and of course i will be calling to the same level so no need to shut anything off before the new starts..it will replace the other..the main movie is one frame yes..but the sound movie will be the entire length of the trac on the movie..and i will be using a preloader for each sound movie..so the pre-load, the sound starts, the timer starts..

another question..say for instance the juke box is a mc right..and through that mc i'm calling the music with loadmovie and the timer starts..the mc has a blank 1st frame to hide it untill called..then it plays..the button that hides the mc will send it back to frame one, right..so my question is if i send it back to 1 to hide it will the timer stop?..i know the music will still be playing because it is loaded on a level..and until it's replaced it will play..but the timer needs to play as long as the movie plays regardless if the mc is hidden or not..no what i'm saying?..ah crap..never mind..i just relized that the timer will be in the loaded movie and show up in the open mc when it is called so i won't even be able to hide it anyways..i won't even be able to hide the jukebox either..damnit man..

o-well guess i will have to leave it showing the whole time!..

that is if you can get this timer to work..

I've been at it for a few hours trying to imagine what you're actually building here...
Will the sounds be streaming? Looping? Or only play once per button press.
Do you have a basic fla as of now? With loading one of these sound swf on a level.
If so, send it to me at my Montréal address.
Don't forget the sound fla, not only the main one!

bro i haven't even got the sound file picked out yet..have a look at this link..when you click on the music console you'll see the box..when i load the movie with the sound, it will of course load the sound onto level one but that movie will also contain a timer that will show up in the blank box on the left of the console..in the middle box will be the sound file links to choose from and in the bottom gray there will be buttons to lower the sound and/or mute(unloading the movie)..if you get the timer to work fine..now my problem will be this..i plan on linking the navagation thru scenes..the music box will stay open until any button is pressed to change the scene..not only will it change the scene but it will send the jukebox back to one hiding it while the scene changes..when the scene changes and the box is hidden the timer will still be showing on top of my scene changing window..can you see what i'm saying now?..if not don't worry..i'll stare at this damn pc till i figure it out..or my eyes start bleeding, which ever comes first..

give me a minute and i'll have the link up..
