My two cents worth, if you need to write in multiple OS, Builder X is the way to go. If, like me, you have a lot of Builder programs that use VCL, you'll want to stick with Builder # (3, 4, 5, or 6).
Builder X has the same Borland compiler that 5 and 6 use so it will compile existing programs (with some work). Its IDE is different enough from the older version that it would take me some time to relearn it. Also, I don't have a need, yet, to compile in SUN, Unix, etc. Finally, the C++ committee is currently working at revamping the standard. All of the above reasons (and the cost, of course) will make me wait until the new standard is out and the new X compilers are done before I update.
