When it comes to servers and a budget of 3500$.
Would you rather buy a brand name or build one yourself??

If you are a builder what configuration would you have for an exchange server Or a file server.

Definatly BUY. If money is a concern, try looking at sources such as the Dell Outlet site (just as an example). Quite a few of the servers on there are from cancelled orders and can not be resold as "new". Generally the machines come with a warranty as well.

be careful with dell though lately there computers have been having some major problems with them. Dell will go onsite and fix the computers, but you have to pay a small fee per computer.

Hunnicutt,
What are some of the problems that Dell is having? I have about 15 Dell servers and have not had one single problem. I just was wondering if I should beware of anything and plan accordingly.

Warenty and Support! the two most importaant factors when purchasing hardware! Also when buying pre-built system you cn guarenty compatibilaty between the devices.
