Hello all,
I am a brand new user of NetBackup. I try to set up multigeneration backups. (The so called: grandfather,
father, son )
Business Server 3.4.1 on Solaris 8.
My customer choose for 5 generations:
Every (office)weekday one backupset. The tapes are removed
every morning from library, stored off-site, and the new
set is put in. To avoid inter-tape dependency, we run
only full backups.
The tape Library is the StorEDGE L9, we use only the 6 cartridge slots.
In my situation I have to define 6*5 30 tapes, but the GUI
of netbackup don't let me do that.
Reason: when adding a tape I have to fill in the slot position, and logically, you cannot put in more then one
tape in a slot. After 6 tapes I am finished...
Is there someone who can advise me how to configure
multi generation backup, based on changing (all 6) tapes
every day? And, without removing the tapes just written from the NetBackup database.
Thanks in advance! Regards Karel.
