I'm needing to build a report that feeds from two sources (Payroll & Production). I would like to build a report that summarizes the payroll data to the weekly level & another one for the production side. Then the main report would feed off of those two reports as their data source.
I have accomplished this with excel but it is very cumbersom to maintain.
In the past I have used a subreport method (Payroll data was main report & production data was passed using subreports) with Crystal.
In addition to being having a lot of passed variables, I seem to recall, you can't summarize(sum or avg, etc) on passed variables which meant I had to have subreports at week, month, year levels. because of the method that I took It was a very very slow running report. the payroll file has several million records in it.

I hope this explains what I need, I would be happy to go into more detail...here's a basic structure

Week of Saturday 8/4
Whse 1
Whse 2
Totals for Week
Week of Saturday 8/11
Whse 1
Whse 2
Totals for Week
Month of August 2007
Whse 1
Whse 2
Totals for Month
Year of 2007
Whse 1
Whse 2
Totals for Year 2007

There will be production Fields, Payroll Fields, & calculated fields derived from fields from both sources.

Thanks in advance for any help anybody can give me.
