It seems that every once in a while, during off hours, I'll come across the following two messages:

BUG6363 TOD: Hardware interrupt register is not cleared.
1 attempt to clear it.

BUG6364 TOD: Hardware interrupt register is cleared after 1 attempt.

I cannot correlate any rhyme or reason as to why I would get these, and also cannot report (so far) any noticable effects.

This is an Option 11C, and the software version and patch level is as follows:

REQ ISSP

VERSION 2111
RELEASE 23
ISSUE 35 +

IN-SERVICE PATCHES : 6
PAT# PRS AUTH ID NAME DATE FILENAME

05 bv75500 MPLR10522 Access log 9/12/4 p10522.p

Any insight would be appreciated!

is this happening on just one side? looks more like a pending cpu problem them a register problem.. not 100 percent clear on hardware interrupt sequence in this box. we have learned that device numbers are interrupts, but you don't reserve interrupts for cpu's or clocks.. so there are background issues we don't have access to...

Thank's John - it's an Option 11, so it can't be side specific, no new cards have been added in over two years, so I'm not sure about the device numbers (I'm not sure that these are assignable on an Option 11?)...

This is a problem specific to internal M68030 capabilities of the Option 11C on systems prior to Release 25.10. This problem is fixed with a simple upgrade to Release 25.11.

Since you can't get that release anymore, you have two options. Hound the crap out of your vendor and get Nortel involved and if you scream loud and long enough, you might get a free (except for the software transaction fee) upgrade to 25.40B. (If you are a big national account that helps)

or...

Upgrade to Succession 4.5

I know this is not what you want to hear, but this problem has been around since 1999.

John

or you could try thse patches.

Apply patches mplr11848 and mplr11965

Thank you John - are you aware of any adverse effects of not upgrading or applying the patch? You explained it relates to the capabilities of the processor, so I'm assuming it's just how it handles interrupts?

no adverse effects except for getting the error message when trying to program and seeing is pop up.

John.

In that case, I can live with it - Thank's again!
