We are using CE in a Windows 2000 Server environment.

After months of using the Management Console to manage the folders and published reports we have experienced the following problem.

When we select a folder or report then select delete the "Program Files/Segate Software/Enterprise/FileStore/Input" directory and all sub-directories are deleted. The result of this is that all published reports are deleted. If there is no backup for the directory then it must be re-created and ALL of the reports must be re-published.

Any help on this problem?

You're saying that your entire Input directory (for every report you have) is deleted when you attempt to delete a single report or folder that may contain one or more reports? Ouch...[sadeyes]

Here are some troubleshooting questions:[ol][li]What version of CE are you using?[/li][li]What patches have you applied and--if you know--in what order were the patches applied?[/li][li]Are all components installed on one server or do you have a distributed installation?[/li][/ol]

An incredibly difficult workaround in the meantime is to look at the file naem from the Properties page under ePortfolio. Then have a server admin or somebody with access manually hunt down and delete the file through Windows ( a huge pain, but less so than republishing ALL your reports!)

It would be easier to remove end-user rights to the report until the issue is resolved.

Thanks for the responses.

1. I believe we are using CE 8.5.
2. We have not installed any patches or Hot Fixes. Based on this sites post, Hot Fixes seem a little too risky at this time. This is a system is in production and we need to avoid having to "fix the fix".
3. All components are installed on the same server.

Since our reports don't change very often we use the following work around.

1. Copy the directory.
2. Using the Management Console, delete the report(s).
3. Restore the directory.
4. Publish the updated report(s).

Ya, it's a pain. But it's easier than re-publishing all 30 reports. If needed, using the Publishing Wizard is a fairly quick method to get the reports back out there. It's the tedious process of activating the 3 to 6 prompts for each of the reports that takes up most the time.
