Looking for some advice here

We've got a large production Peoplesoft SQL box 8 X 2.7 gig processors... 8 Gigs of RAM (7 allocated specifically for SQL)

The database itself is only 25 Gigs but accessed by approx 100 users continually.

Usually when I see a message like this my first thought is more RAM... but with 8 Gigs or RAM sitting there that makes for a hard argument to win.

so 2 questions

1. Is there a way to identify how much RAM is ACTUALLY being used by this server

2. Any ideas as to what else to check?

Thanks in advance

In Task Manager under Processes you will be able to see the processor as well as the memory consumption of SQL Server, by default. You can also turn other meterics on to view their current stats.

Thanks

Well good news and bad news

I checked the Task Mananger and Added Peak Mem Usage and few other metrics

Good News (if I'm reading the results properly) I'm not even coming close to using 7 Gig of RAM we have allocated for SQL

Bad News my monitoring software still comes back with the following message

SQLServer instance CRMSQL01: Buffer Cache Free Pages (0) is less than 10 pages

Any other ideas?

Thanks in advance!!!

Is you SQL Server using memory dynamically or is it set to use a fixed amount?

Thanks

Currently a fixed amount (7 out of the 8 gigs)

I've always let SQL run it's own show but I just started at this company and they had a "Peoplesoft Expert" recommend a fixed amount to ensure that SQL has all the RAM it could need.

Thanks again for your help

Thanks in advance!!!
