Buddy API MAC and PC?

A difference from my all previous question, this is not for a project is just a doubt. I was checking the documentation for Buddy API and the parameters for Mac and PC are a little different some times. Isn't that a problem If you publish from Mac(OSX) to windows, even if the Xtras for both platform are present? or is not related at all.
