I am running into a problem using Btrieve 6.15 with a Windows 7 client PC. I heard about the ultimate patch, but have not been able to get it from Pervasive. Has anyone else had a problenm getting the patch?

Thanks,

Purchased unlimited DOS and Windows versions just before Pervasive took over. They then wanted to charge per seat.
Anyway, got an email about the patch and requested it.
They ignored request for about a month and then finally
said since I didn't purchase from them they wouldn't give it out.
Have 6.15.431.
What is in that final patch?

Posted an answer, but it didn't make the trip.
Reposting:
I wrote a TCP send/receive program that runs
on all machines. The server just passes the
requests to Btrieve 6.15.451 on the server so
each machine doesn't need Btrieve.
There is no need to pay per seat when you can
have your own TCP front end.

I'm new to this forum and have no idea what happened
to my other posting.

Is there anything in the ultimate patch that wasn't
in 6.15.451? 6.15.451 fixed a big bug.

Well, designing your own front end is likely a violation of the license agreement. Very ingenious on your part though.

No violation.
Btrieve was offered with unlimited distribution rights.
The cost was $1000.00 for DOS and $1000.00 for Windows.
The agreement allowed Btrieve usage on unlimited machines.
BTI renamed itself to Pervasive and dropped unlimited licenses.

No offer was given to dissolve the contract or return fees.
The only choice is pay per-seat (per termimal.)
This could cause a great financial loss by licensees.

Licensees are denied seeing what is in the patch and what
possible damage may be incurred by not applying the patch.

Yes, others have been denied the Ultimate patch.
Is this patch the same as version 6.15.451?
Is hiding the contents of updates a normal policy?
What is in version 6.15.451?
What is in the Ultimate patch?
