I have an old DOS program that uses btrieve version 6.15.925. I am on Win2000 Professional using Crystal Reports Developer for reports.

Crystal Reports included the btrieve drivers in version 7 and my reports ran well. I tried version 8 but my reports wouldn't run without the Pervasive client.

I thought version 9 of Crystal would include the btrieve drivers but no luck.

If I load Pervasive client, Pervasive is called whenever btrieve is called. I need to load the 6.15.925 DOS btrieve included in this old program for file sharing in the wide area network.

Is there another driver I can use or can I use ODBC to make version 9 work with the old btrieve database without effecting my old calls for this DOS program?

We access our Btrieve data using ODBC DSNs - the performance may be an issue though...

Does your btrieve application include .ddfs? If so you do not need the ODBC driver. Write your crystal report directly from the .ddfs. There are a few limitations, and performance can be an issue, but give this a shot and let me know what you think. Software Training and Support for Macola, Crystal Reports and Goldmine
