Hi,
Please see

thread328-143735

thread328-145744

As I put a lot of details in these posts last year when I made them.

well i went thru the thread and did that but still when
connecting to Teradata Demo Server from my client PC using Bteq
it says RDBMS Crashed/ Recovery In progress... even though i'm
able to use the server from Queryman...

if the machine ip of on which teradata server is running is say
192.192.192.1 tell me whether the entry in my HOSTS file is correct

192.192.192.1 demo1099 demo1099cop1 dbccop1

am i missing anything else here....

thanks a lot for ur time

regards

Hi,
what version of Windows are you using?

Did you start the Teradata instance? from a DOS command prompt type....

pdestate -a

and make sure it says that it is running and that you are al logons enabled. if not go to the start menu and find the teradata RDBMS under program files and find the start/stop and use it to start teradata.

when it says the database has started...

Then look in the event viewer at the application log and see if there are any errors related to TDAT TOOLS or Teradata.

There should be a message (8099 or something like that) there once you started that said port 1025 has been captured and successfully transfered to the gateway perogram.
