Bteq connect to a remote machine 1

Ok, I have two Teradata machines, let's say machine A and machine B. Does anyone know how to connect to machine B from machine A? (with bteq)<br>

As far as I can tell there aren't env variables or command line options and .logon user@machine or .logon //machine/user doesn't seem to do anything.<br>

Try using .logon machine/user<br>
make sure that your hosts file or dns contains an entry for "machinecop1"<br>

If I undestand your question, you can't [to my knowledge] directly share data via BTEQ between 2 Teradata systems. You can of course use Arcmain Copy to move data from 1 to another, with another host as the input driver. You can also telnet from one system's node to another system if both /etc/host files are populated, but that is unix. Once you have telnet'd to another system, you can invoke BTEQ from that node and work.....

You need to do 2 things:
1. Your /etc/hosts file needs to contain an alias for the second machine. So if you are on machine A then your hosts file needs an entry like xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx machineB machineBcop1.
2. When you logon the syntax is .logon machineB/username. Bteq will append the cop1 to the end of machineB. If you don't have the alias in the hosts file it won't find it. Also this is not an internet address so no '//' in front of the system name.
