I Just had an interesting problem form a cust. that may be worth noting by those of us who drive on the right(correct) side of the road)

it seems that the BT paragon 650 handset will not ring for external calls when the PSU (required for the display) is connected.
all is fine when this is disconnected.

I do not Have A.D.D. im just easily, Hey look a Squirrel!

Are those tone or pulse phones?
A pulse phone does not ring when the B wire is not connected to EB.

BAZINGA!

I'm not insane, my mother had me tested!

I would expect them to be tone.
they are connected via a PBX master so should be fine.
they ring without a problem if the PSU is disconnected.

I have already recommend the customer tries a different make/model but though it was worth giving the heads up to everyone else.

Did you open up the phone to see where the power lead is going to?
Perhaps it is short circuit something that prevents the phone from ringing.

cust has tried 3 different phones
all with the same issue
I am pretty sure this is just a phone that does not like the IPO (may work with CLI switched off but that was the whole reason for them choosing a fancy phone in the 1st place)

We avoid display analogue handset for this very reason among others, they either get a POTS with no screen that we know works fine or a 1408,16/95xx :)

This and analog phone in the same thread is a joke :)

BT handsets have *always* been flakey with IP office. Many don't display CLI or other wierdness.

If you want a "fancy" analogue phone - use an Interquartz. they aren't cheap (about £50), but they are very well made and have soemthing like a 5 year warranty!

Take Care

I have always wished that my computer would be as easy to use as my telephone.
My wish has come true. I no longer know how to use my telephone.

You even get nice Avaya badged ones :)

interquatz is exactly what I recommended to this customer

fortunately we do not support Analog handsets either & it is up to the end user to source them.
