we have 2 win 98 machines that work fine but the XP box can't get assigned an IP address form the router Regards

I managed to get it to work by entering the ip address, gateway and dns server manually, but still don´t know why XP can´t get the info automatically Regards

Did yo try IPCONFIG /RELEASE, IPCONFIG /RENEW? I just recently heard there may be some problems with networking the XP home version(if thats what you have). Matt Wray

Are you able to browse the rest of the network? The last machine I put together had a similar prob. It coudn't pull an IP from the DHCP server. But when I statically put one in it could get online, but still not see the rest of the network. I ended up changing the PCI slot and that fixed it!
This was for 2000 tho...
