Hi Hope someone can assist.
I just bought new Dell D600 (in all good faith) with factory installed WinXP SP1 Home version
I loaded Duxbury ISDN PCMCIA card using software provided.
After connecting to ISP for approx 20 min, I receive BSOD with notification, Error msg, DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR _EQUAL
and something about File TA128...
I've checked Mnf web site loaded applicable drivers, same result.
I’ve also checked with Mnf and Microsoft, none can give further advice than “update drivers”, which has been done many times.
Manufacturer has now tested on other makes of laptops, and has confirmed PCMCIA works perfectly
Suggested that I contact Dell as it’s a “Dell” problem
I really don’t want to buy another laptop.
Your assistance would be most appreciat
Thanks

Hopefully we're not looking at a proprietary hardware issue. Have you done an up to date virus scan? Spyware scan? You say OS is factory loaded, but you have that sound like you bought this device through somebody else...

Questions.
1. What driver is loaded?
2. What is the full error regarding TA128?
3. What are you using for firewall? I believe you can turn on the built in firewall, go to properties of my network places, then properties, then advanced tab.

I would do an up to date virus scan in safe mode, since it works for awhile, it sounds like something is suddenly crashing the communications, like a hacker or virus. Usually bad drivers don't work for 20 minutes of communicating. It could also be a thermal issue with the adapter, it gets hot, then craps out. If you reboot right away after it crashes, can you stay connected again for awhile?

Matt J.

P.S. Please always take the time to backup any and all data before performing any actions suggested for ANY problem, regardless of how minor a change it might seem. Also test the backup to make sure it is intact.
