I'm using illustrator CS1. Using default brushes like dry ink or waterpaint, is it normal that such brushes have a certain transparent quality by default? As you can see in this screendump?

Or is there something wrong with my program settings?
Someone wrote me that he isn't seeing this transparent effect when drawing a brown dry ink brush over a orange square like I did?
