I have 'Allow Browsing' selected on a Virtual directory. I have a SSL.
But cannot browse unless I use

domain/vd name

I cannot use the machinename instead of the full domain

at this point I can open .txt, .htm, .asp files but am unable to open .exe or .zip or .cab files.

Does anyone have any ideas.

is this virtual directory a vd of the default web site, or is it of a virtual host?? if it's a virtual host, it should be on the default web site... that should work...

We don't seem to have a default web site set up (don't ask me why as noone knows!)

It is a virtual directory of the domain web site ie/

a virtual directory means

/domainname/virtual directory

for example is the domain name

nickyb is the virtual directory

There is something called Default Web Site which is the root -> you have to do is set a default web site.

Now in order to run exe application you will need execution privalages in IIS, *WARNING THIS IS A SECURITY RISK*

I hope that helps.
