Does anyone know how to get the size of the entire browser window (including toolbars, scrollsbars, favorites pane, etc) in IE. I've looked all over the MS web site, and tried all kinds of properties, but they all seem to pertain only to the CLIENT area, not the entire browser window. Meddle not in the affairs of dragons,

I guess the full size of a browser's window, if the user has it in full extended mode, would be dependant of the user's selected resolution. I have chosen 1024*768 but trim this down a little to allways have an eye on my desktop... I doubt you could come up with the actual dimensions of my browser's window. Without opening a new window, don't think you could be able to change or actually get it's dimensions!

;-)

you could always resize it... then you'd know the dimensions. luciddream@subdimension.com

You can get the size of the browser window in NS easily with window.outerWidth and window.outerHeight, so getting the dimensions of the browser window isn't rocket science, it just appears that Big Brother has decided that you don't want to do that, so they don't seem to have given you a way to do it. And you CAN change the size of an existing broswer window, even in IE. For a miracle it's even the same method in both NS and IE (resizeTo).

True, if I resized it I would know the dimensions, but that's not the point.

Check out
They use a nifty window popup script in the parent window, that opens a new window the entire size of the clients viewable screen area.

This is an awsome script since it works in both browsers, and would even work for a user looking at a 12inch screen.

It also doesn't depend on the more advanced features of IE 5's fullscreen commands.

It's not quite the size of my viewable area!
